Museum of American Revolution Opens; Aaron Hernandez Hanged in Jail; Craigslist Assault in Lansdale

The Museum of the American Revolution opened today in Philadelphia. Festivities started first thing this morning with a ceremonial wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution in Washington Square. Then there was a parade down Chestnut Street past Independence Hall featuring fife and drums corps and horse drawn carriages. It ended at the museum's location at 3rd and Chestnut. The ribbon cutting ceremony at the museum featured former Vice President Joe Biden, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough, Gov. Tom Wolf, Mayor Jim Kenney, political commentator Cokie Roberts, Oneida Nation representative Ray Halbritter, and museum chair Gen. John P. Jumper. The Philadelphia Boys Choir, a brass quintet from the Curtis Institute of Music, and Hamilton star Sydney James Harcourt also performed. Today, April 19th, is the 242nd anniversary of the battle at Lexington and Concord, aka the "shot heard 'round the world."

Former NFL star and ex-member of the New England Patriots, Aaron Hernandez, died early this morning after he hanged himself inside his prison cell. The Massachusetts Department of Corrections says the 27-year-old was found at 3:05 a.m. in his cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, MA. Officers tried to resuscitate him. Hernandez was brought to UMass Memorial-HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, MA where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. Hernandez was just acquitted on Friday of a 2012 double murder. He was already serving life without parole for a 2013 murder. Hernadez was being held in a single cell and officials did not have concern that he would harm himself. The New England Patriots are visiting the White House today to be honored for this year's Super Bowl win.

Montgomery County authorities are searching for a woman accused of trying to kidnap a man she met on Craigslist earlier this year. Lansdale police say that the man in his 20's posted an ad on the classifieds site "seeking companionship" back in January. Lara Ashley Mountz from Delaware County responded to the ad and agreed to meet him at his home in Lansdale. However, Mountz allegedly arrived at the home with two other men who assaulted, robbed, and tried to kidnap him. The victim was able to escape and call 911. Lansdale police have an arrest warrant out for Mountz for attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault. Investigators have been in contact with her and her family but she continues to evade police. Her last known address is in Drexel Hill. If you have any information please contact Lansdale Police. See her picture below.
