Woman Struck By Police Cruiser; George H. W. Bush Hospitalized, Doing Ok; NFL Draft Road Closures

Philadelphia Police reported on Tuesday night that a woman was struck by a police cruiser while it was in pursuit of a suspect in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. The incident took place on F Street near Kensington Avenue at around 5 pm. Witnesses reported that the chase started on foot inside of a park, then a police cruiser got involved and ended up hitting a woman who was in the park. The 30-year-old victim was knocked unconscious by the impact. Police quickly rushed her to the hospital where she is listed in critical condition. The suspect police were chasing got away after the crash happened.

Former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized after he was diagnosed from a "mild case of pneumonia," but is now reportedly doing fine. The former president's office stated that he was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital on Friday due to a cough that was preventing him from sleeping correctly, but doctors have now stated that they treated him for pneumonia and it has been resolved. This is the second time this year that the 92-year-old former president has been hospitalized, he was admitted in January due to a shortness of breath as well as pneumonia. Bush's office has now stated that he is "is in very good spirits and is being held for further observation while he regains his strength."

City Officials have now announced the road closures and restrictions that will take place next week during the 2017 NFL Draft that is taking place in Philly. The festivities will take place between Thursday April 27th through Saturday April 29th on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Eakins Oval, as well as on the steps of The Art Museum. Starting this Wednesday April 19th, the inner lanes of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed from Eakins Oval to 20th Street until May 2nd. Officials have also stated that many bike paths and sidewalks will be detoured along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

- Kelly Drive will be closed at Fairmount Avenue with traffic detoured onto Fairmount Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Starting at 7:00pm on Monday, April 24th, due to the closure of the outer lanes on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, traffic headed inbound (to Center City) from Spring Garden Street Bridge or Martin Luther King Drive must exit Eakins Oval on the 24th Street ramp. Traffic headed inbound on Kelly Drive must exit Kelly Drive at Fairmount Avenue. Those wishing to access the rear of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on the north side must exit onto Fairmount Avenue, turn right on Pennsylvania Avenue and proceed SB on 25th Street onto Anne dâ€™Harnoncourt Drive.
