New Museum In Philly; Teacher Charged With Sexual Contact With Student; US Drops Bomb On IS Base

A new museum is opening up in Philadelphia that will showcase the start of America. The Museum of the American Revolution, located on 3rd and Chestnut in Old City, takes visitors through the history of America from being under British control through the Revolutionary War. Visitors are asked questions about the time period and are later shown artifacts, artwork, and other exhibits that gives them more history into the era. The museum also includes George Washington's actual tent, where he lived and worked in from 1778-1783. The museum opens to the public on April 19th and visitors are asked to order pre-purchase tickets online which are good for two consecutive days. A Lehigh Valley teacher has been charged with having inappropriate sexual contact with a student. 34-year-old Christopher Johnson, a teacher at Parkland High School, surrendered to police on Thursday. Back in early April, the parents of the student discovered inappropriate texts between Johnson and their daughter on her phone. The parents then contacted school administrators and police about what they found. The victim told police their student-teacher relationship turned into a sexual one after Johnson began tutoring her back in January. It apparently went on until March. Johnson is now being charged with one count of unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a minor, as well as institutional sexual assault.

White House officials announced that on Thursday night US military forces dropped the largest non-nuclear weapon ever to be used in combat in US military history. The GBU-43B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), also known as "the mother of all bombs," was dropped on an Islamic State tunnel complex located in Eastern Afghanistan at 7:32 pm EST. The bomb held around 11 tons of explosive. A Pentagon spokesperson stated that the bomb was dropped from a US MC-130 special operations transport aircraft. Commander of US forces in Afghanistan, Army Gen. John W. Nicholson, stated that the strike was designed to "minimize the risk to Afghan and U.S. forces conducting clearing operations in the Achin area while maximizing the destruction of IS fighters and facilities." Afghan officials said that 36 ISIS fighters had been killed and three underground tunnels had been destroyed.
