A Montgomery County man is facing numerous charges for allegedly beating and torturing his two children for years. 44-year-old Joseph Myhre of Greensway Circle in Lower Providence Township is charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, strangulation, conspiracy, unlawful restraint and reckless endangering his two children. Police began to investigate after he assaulted his wife and she was hospitalized with a broken skull on March 15th. The kids, an 13-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter, have been home schooled in their Collegeville home. The children were punched, kicked, and choked. They were struck with a wooden dowel or PVC pipe, shocked with electric dog collars, and stuck with lancets under their fingernails and toenails. The children did not have beds, but slept in wooden boxes with air holes. The abuse has been going on for at least 5 years. Myhre is being held in Montgomery County prison in lieu of $1 million bail.

Philadelphia Water Department crews are working to fix a three-inch break in a service connection to a nearby high-rise building in Rittenhouse Square. That water supply line break opened up a small, but deep, sinkhole on 17th Street between Walnut and Locust over night Tuesday. Crews started working around 6 a.m. There is no word on when they'll be done and able to reopen the road. Water service is out for the upper residential floors of the building, but the first floor commercial units still have service because that is on a different line.

A prostitute and her male friend are under arrest after robbing a Chester County home because one of her customers did not pay for sex. 22-year-old Monica DeJesus of Philadelphia and 36-year-old Justin Harris of Mickleton, New Jersey, are charged with robbery, conspiracy and promoting prostitution. It happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on the 1800 block of Valley Drive in East Goshen Township. After the encounter, DeJesus called Harris who was waiting in a nearby parking lot. He came with a gun and kicked in the door. One resident overpowered Harris and hit him in the face with a fireplace poker. DeJesus picked up the gun that Harris dropped and pointed it at the residents. One resident ran away. Police caught up with the pair a short time later. They found the .45-caliber handgun and property stolen from the residence. DeJesus told police she had been raped, but the investigation revealed that she was working as a prostitute and had not been paid. See photos below.
