Senate Confirms Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court; Legionella Found in High School; Missing 4yo Found

The U.S. Senate has voted to confirm President Trump's nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, to the Supreme Court. Senate Republicans had changed the rules and lowered the threshold to approve the nomination to a simple majority, down from 60 votes, to avoid a filibuster from the Democrats. He was confirmed 54-45. The so called 'nuclear option' was previously used by Democrats during hearings for President Obama's cabinet nominees. Republicans benefited from the Democrats' 'nuclear option' changes on cabinet appointments as many of Trump's nominations were very close, including one tie that had to be broken by Vice President Pence.

A high school in Chester County was closed on Friday after a deadly bacteria was discovered in the hot water system. Legionella bacteria was found at Kennett High School in Kennett Square during routine testing. The bacteria can cause Legionnaire's Disease. There have been no confirmed cases of the disease. An environmental remediation firm will be removing the bacteria. See the school's message below.

A 4-year-old girl who was kidnapped in New Castle County, Delaware, on Thursday night was found. Authorities are still looking for the suspect. It happened around 7 p.m. in the village of Plum Run. The girl was playing outside when a man driving a dark colored sedan with tinted windows grabbed her. The child was found about two hours later. A passerby saw her 8 miles away near Banning Park in Wilmington around 9 p.m. The suspect is described as a white male with dark hair.

â€˜We are notifying you that during routine testing of the hot water systems at Kennett High School, a positive test result for legionella bacteria was confirmed.

In response to this test result, we have consulted with the Chester County Health Department and contracted with an environmental remediation firm to eliminate the bacteria. As a proactive measure, we have discontinued use of the boiler room spigot where the positive sample was taken and as an additional precaution shut down all showers

According to the Health Department, the presence of the bacteria, which are commonly found in water, is no concern for alarm at this time. The Health Department officials stated that there are no confirmed reports of Legionnairesâ€™ disease and the Health Department would not be issuing a public advisory at this time.

The presence of legionella bacteria does not mean that a person will contract Legionnairesâ€™ disease. The bacteria are not passed from person to person. People often receive low-level exposure as it exists naturally in the environment.â€™
