Attempted Child Abduction in Center City; $70k Reward in Quadruple Shooting; Shore Bridge Closed

The Philadelphia Police Special Victim's unit is asking the public's help in identifying the parents or guardians of a child who may have been the victim of an attempted abduction. It happened on Sunday morning inside of the Dunkin' Donuts at 1425 Locust Street in Center City. The incident was captured on surveillance video. A man can be seen reaching into a stroller. The child's parents then intervene and push the man away. The parents and child left before police arrived, but the man was arrested. A $70,000 reward is being offered in the quadruple shooting that happened in North Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. Three men were killed and one was injured when shots rang out in broad daylight. It happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday on the 1100 block of Stiles Street at Harrison Plaza public housing facility across the street from St. Malachy Catholic School. The four victims are known to police and have lengthy criminal records. They were approached by multiple individuals who opened fire. Police Commissioner Richard Ross says that 25 shell casings were found at the scene. They fled in a small grey SUV. Police believe it may stem from a neighborhood rivalry and fear retaliation. An underwater inspection performed this morning on the Townsends Inlet Bridge between Avalon and Sea Isle City uncovered problems that need immediate attention. The bridge is now closed for emergency repairs. Cape May County engineer Dale Foster said, "One pile had a new crack in it and also showed some movements, and next to it the next pile over had severe deterioration." The problems are each about 20 feet down in 50 feet of water making the repairs difficult. New piles will be driven in place. The closure is indefinite, but Foster expects the repair will be done before Memorial Day. In the meantime, drivers will have to head out to Rt. 9 or the Garden State Parkway to travel between the beach towns.
