Upper Darby Man Keeps $15k Found Last Year; Shooting on NJ Turnpike; NAACP Wants Charges on Owner

A Delaware County man who found a bag with thousands of dollars of cash in it last year and turned it into police, now gets to keep the money because no one has claimed it. 61-Year-old Bob Tracey was driving home last March when he saw a black bag in the middle of State Road. He pulled over and opened it up to find it filled with $20 and $100 bills. He immediately called police. The total in cash was $15,200. When no one who could prove the money was theirs came forward to claim the money after a year, Tracey was free to file a petition in the Civil Division of Delaware County Courts. As they say, finders keepers.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office is investigating after a deadly police-involved shooting at a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike on Thursday afternoon. It happened at 2:45 p.m. at the Molly Pitcher Service Area in Cranbury, Middlesex County. A man was inside a pickup truck when he was shot by a New Jersey State trooper. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-hour rest area was closed for the investigation. No other details were released due to the ongoing investigation.

Last Sunday, an owner of a laundromat was robbed at knifepoint. He gave the robber cash and then chased him out of the store with his own licensed handgun. Out on the street, the robber threw the cash in the air and continued to run away. The store owner opened fire and hit the suspect twice in the chest and also hit an innocent bystander twice in the hand. The robber was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He is charged with armed robbery and other offenses. The bystander was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The store owner was not charged. The incident was caught on video. Now, the NAACP wants the Philadelphia District Attorney's office to hold the store owner accountable for his actions. They believe his behavior was reckless and endangered many people on the street. In fact, he did hit a bystander. They say he should have let the suspect go and let the police do their job. The DA's office says they do not have enough evidence to charge the laundromat owner at this time but that the investigation "remains open."
