Police Identity Bill Passed; Questionnaires For Cosby Jurors; Fake Traffic Tickets In Chester

A bill has now been passed through the state house that would prevent the immediate release of police officers names that have been involved in shootings. A similar bill was passed through the house two years ago that was later vetoed by Gov. Wolf. The bill was brought up again in a house session on Monday, and passed through the house once again. The bill would prohibit the release of a police officer name that used force or discharged a weapon during an altercation, until the investigation is complete or 30 days after the incident. The bill will now have to be passed through the state senate.

After the Supreme Court decided where the jury for the Bill Cosby case will be chosen, Cosby's lawyers now say that there should be a process on how they are picked. Cosby's attorney's have filed a claim to 1,500 to 2,000 questionnaires mailed out to potential jurors in Allegheny County. Cosby's attorney's say that the questionnaire is an appropriate method to find suitable jurors. The questionnaires would be returned by May 15th to allow time for the jurors to be picked. Prosecutors are planning to file a response.

Police in Chester County are now warning residents of fake traffic violations that have been circulating the area requesting money. Police say that letters were placed into mailboxes in Westtown Township on Monday. The residents received a one page notice that stated their vehicle was captured on camera speeding on East Pleasant Grove Road. It also included a photograph of the resident's license plate, their last name and full mailing address. The letter told the residents to leave $96 in cash in their mailbox, and to send an email when the money is ready to be picked up. The local police station stated that they do not send speeding violations in the this form and does not collect cash for traffic violations. Police say that the picture of the victim's vehicles were taken while they were parked in their driveway's. Police are now working to identify the individuals involved, they believe they were delivered by bicycle.

Update: A 16-year-old Westtown boy was arrested in connection with the phony notices. The boy's father found evidence that they had been printed on the family printer and called police. Charges will be filed with the Chester County Juvenile Probation Department.
