A Montgomery County pediatrician who was arrested last month on child pornography charges has died in jail. 48-year-old David Kennedy of Pennsburg was found dead in Montgomery County Corrections Facility on Sunday. Kennedy was arrested on November 30th and charged with with five counts of Sexual Abuse of Children and Criminal Use of a Communications Facility. A nurse practitioner discovered sexually explicit images of minors on a cell phone given to her by Kennedy to use during off hours over the Thanksgiving holiday. She then contacted authorities. Kennedy was remanded to jail when he failed to make $250,000 bail. The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office is investigating the death. No word on how he died.

A woman accidentally shot and injured a security guard at a Germantown grocery store who was coming to her aide. It happened just after 6 a.m. in the parking lot of the Save-A-Lot at the 5800 block of Pulaski Avenue. The 51-year-old woman was trying to enter the store when a male blocked the entrance. She called for security. The verbal confrontation escalated when the man charged at her with a stick attempting to strike her. The woman pulled her revolver and fired twice. One bullet ricocheted off the ground and hit a security guard who was responding to the scene in the shin. The man fled with the woman's purse and cell phone. The 45-year-old suspect was tracked down by police. The security guard was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Donald Trump has surpassed 270 votes in the Electoral College, ending up with 304. He will officially become the 45th President of the United States. Despite numerous anti-Trump efforts since the election on November 8th, the billionaire businessman is poised to take office on January 20th. Congress will certify the vote on January 6th. Following the election in which Trump won in the Electoral College but Hillary Clinton tallied more popular votes, the Green Party's Jill Stein led efforts for recounts in a number of key states where the vote was close. Those efforts came up short or, in the case of Wisconsin, changed nothing. Other anti-Trump activists set to work on the 538 electors themselves appealing to their consciences to do the right thing. 7 electors did stray from their pledged votes today, however, 5 were actually Democrats and 2 were Republicans. There were protests held outside of state capitol buildings across the country. A few hundred gathered outside of the state house in Harrisburg as all 20 Pennsylvania electors voted for Trump.
