Part of Martin Luther King Drive in Philadelphia will be closed during certain hours of the day starting Tuesday due to construction. The construction comes about after a 75 foot portion of the Schuylkill River wall fell into the river back in August. A section of supported asphalt walkway came down with the wall as well, which can be a safety hazard to the public. Martin Luther King Drive will close from Sweet Briar Drive to Eakins Oval to repair the wall. Construction crews will be working from the hours of 9 am to 3 pm, then starting back up again at 7 pm to 5 am. During these hours the eastbound lanes on MLK highway will be closed. The construction will also affect riders of the Schuylkill River Trail, but a detour will be posted along the trail. The closure of the road will last until January 20th.

Fire Crews responded to a call of a fire that injured nine people and displaced 20 on Tuesday morning in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The fire broke out at around 4 am on the 4500 block of Frankford Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene to try to control the two alarm blaze, as well as rescue any residents stuck in their apartments. Firefighters had to make multiple rescues from the apartments. A total of nine people were injured in the blaze, five adults and four kids. The fire damaged the apartment building as well as a corner pizza shop. The Red Cross is now working with residents and offering them assistance in finding a place to stay. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A federal judge has now ordered a hearing on the Green Party's request for the presidential recount in Pennsylvania. U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond has scheduled the hearing for Friday. Republicans and Trump oppose the recount stating that the case "threatens Pennsylvania's ability to certify its election results by the December 13th deadline." Jill Stein, who has been leading the recount requests, focused mainly on Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, three states which Trump barely beat Clinton.
