Officials have identified the man arrested yesterday in connection with the deadly hit-and-run accident in Overbrook last week. 24-year-old Paul Woodlyn has been charged with homicide by vehicle, accident by death, and involuntary manslaughter. Bail has been set at $500,000. The vehicle in the crash was recovered a few hours earlier at an auto body shop in Frazer, Chester County. The tip came in from the shop owner who saw the news and became suspicious. 8-year-old Jayanna Powell was struck and killed while crossing the street with her siblings at 63rd Street and Lansdowne Ave in West Philadelphia on November 18th.

A 20-year-old man has died after falling backward over a wall and into the Wissahickon Creek this morning in Fairmount Park. It happened around 10:40 a.m. on the 4300 block of Henry Avenue near Lincoln Drive. The man was sitting on the wall before falling into the water. Police responded and pulled him out. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:15 a.m. It is not clear if he fell from the Henry Ave. bridge high above, or a smaller pedestrian bridge. His identity has not been released.

A Delaware woman has been arrested after leaving her three young kids in the car while she went shopping in Wal-mart. State Troopers were called Wednesday when a 3-year-old boy was seen wandering the parking lot. Wal-mart security had found the mother by the time authorities arrived. A 1-year-old girl and an 8-month-old girl were also left unattended while she was in the store. 34-year-old Brandi A. Jones of Magnolia has been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal trespass and breach of conditions of a bond. She initially gave police a false name because of six open court orders out of Kent County Courts and a no contact order from Wal-mart stemming from a June shoplifting incident. The children are safe and in the custody of a relative.
