Image of Car in Overbrook Hit-and-Run; Illegal Immigrant Arrested in Sex Assault; Train Kills DE Man

Philadelphia Police have released an image of a vehicle they say was involved in the hit-and-run death of an 8-year-old girl in Overbrook. They are looking for a silver 2009-2016 Nissan Maxima or Altima with damage to one of the front headlights and the front grill area. It happened on Friday night near 63rd and Lansdowne. Jayanna Powell was struck and killed while crossing the street with her brother. On Wednesday night, her family along with dozens of others took to the streets with signs and marched while calling for justice. Police are asking the public's help in identifying the car. They also recommend the person turn themselves in.

An illegal immigrant from Honduras was arrested Wednesday in Bensalem, Bucks County, for allegedly molesting a 12-year-old girl. 33-year-old Jorge Luis Ramirez is accused of sexually assaulting the girl over a dozen times. Ramirez, who is living here undocumented, first met the girl at the Redemption Episcopal Church on 2nd Street Pike in Southampton, PA. He bought her a cell phone so he could call her anytime. The girl's parents first reported the assaults to police this week. Ramirez is charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a child, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor. Bail is set at $1 million. He is being held in county jail.

A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Delaware on Wednesday. It happened around 3:45 pm between Newark and Wilmington. A pedestrian was walking on the tracks when they were hit by a northbound train. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified. Authorities are still investigating. The accident came on one of the busiest days for the Northeast Corridor line. Service was shut down in both directions in the late afternoon. It has since resumed. Many travelers out of 30th Street Station experienced delays of 2-3 hours.
