Earthquake In Japan, Double Shooting In Tioga, Gov. Wolf Vetos Legislation

The United States Geological Survey has reported that Fukushima, Japan was hit with a 6.9 magnitude earthquake on Monday and have now reported a possible Tsunami. The earthquake formed at a depth of 10 kilometers off the eastern coast of Fukushima and tremors from the earthquake could be felt as far away as Tokyo. Japan's Meteorological Agency stated that tsunami waves up to 10 feet are possible to hit areas that are 300 kilometers from the earthquakes epicenter. Japan's government have now told people living near the affected coastline to evacuate immediately. Fukushima is also the home of the nuclear power plant that was destroyed by a tsunami back in 2011.

UPDATE: Japan has lifted the tsunami warning. Some tsunami waves were recorded, the highest being 1.4m high.

Two men were rushed to Temple University Hospital on Monday afternoon after a double shooting occurred in the Tioga section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 3500 block of North 15th Street at around 2:13 pm. Police have stated that the first victim was shot five times suffering wounds to his left shoulder, abdomen and both of his legs, he is currently at Temple University Hospital in stable condition. The second victim was found shot in the head and was rushed to the hospital, where there is currently no word on his condition. Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has now decided to veto legislation that would have restricted police officers being identified after firing their weapon or using force during the line of duty that resulted in death or serious injury. The legislation was passed through the House and Senate last month, but was ultimately stopped by Wolf. In his veto statement Wolf said the law would have withheld important information from the public, and that although he is concerned with the safety of police officers, he feels the police departments can decide what information is appropriate to release to the public.
