NJ Gas Tax Raise Begins, City Building New Trail, Melania Trump Coming To PA

The days of cheap gas in New Jersey is now coming to an end starting Tuesday. This comes about after Jersey had run out of money to pay for new transportation projects for the city. So NJ Governor Chris Christie and the State Legislature came to an agreement to raise the gas tax up by 23 cents. The tax per gallon will now go up from 14.5 cents to 37.5 cents, making this the first time it has been raised in New Jersey since 1988. New Jersey will now have the sixth highest gas tax in the country.

City officials have now announced they are going to be putting millions of dollars into renovating an old, overgrown space in Center City into a new trail. The Reading Viaduct, which used to be used to shuttle trains in and out of the city, will be renovated into trail for bikers, runners and walkers throughout the city. The trail will span about three miles through many distinct neighborhoods in the city. Gov. Tom Wolf announced the state will chip in $3 million to the project, as well as the city of Philadelphia chipping in nearly $3 million.

With election day only a week away now, the clock is ticking for presidential candidates to get their last minute campaigning in to win over voters. Donald Trump's campaign announced on Monday night that they will be holding a rally this coming Thursday November 3rd in PA. Trump has made many visits to PA himself to campaign, but this time he will be sending his wife Melania. The rally will be held on Thursday at the Main Line Sports Arena starting at 2:00 pm.
