The north side stone staircase leading to the entrance of the iconic Union League in Philadelphia was heavily damaged overnight by a vandal. Surveillance tapes show a man tugging at the brass hand rail at around 3 a.m. When he pulled the railing free, the rest of the curved stone railing came crumbling down. The man then stole the brass and walked south on Broad Street before disappearing down Moravian Street. The steps are currently off limits. Police are investigating. They hope to restore the damage as soon as possible. The Union League has occupied the block along South Broad Street at Samson Street in Center City for over 150 years.

Four juveniles have been arrested in connection to a number of attacks involving a large group of teens that gathered at Temple University of Friday night. The coordinated meetup of groups of 50 or more youths started around 8 pm and lasted until 10 pm. Some college students were assaulted and robbed, but the attacks weren't necessarily targeted at Temple students. A police horse was punched in the face and a bike cop was thrown to the ground. Rocks were thrown at passing cars. Those teens arrested were charged with various crimes including aggravated assault, robbery, criminal conspiracy, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and related crimes. More arrests are possible as police continue to investigate.

Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is in court for sentencing today. Witnesses for both the prosecution and the defense testified Monday at the courthouse in Norristown, Montgomery County. Kane tearfully asked for leniency, hoping to receive probation or house arrest so she could take care of her two sons ages 14 and 15. She argued that the loss of her career, law license and reputation is punishment enough. The prosecution called her crimes "egregious" and asked for jail time, saying she created an atmosphere of fear and paranoia in the 800-person Attorney General's office. Kane was found guilty of all 9 counts in a perjury and obstruction case. She was accused of leaking confidential grand jury information to the press to embarrass a political rival and then lying about it under oath to a subsequent grand jury. She could be sentenced to probation up to a maximum of 12 to 24 years in prison.

UPDATE: Kathleen Kane was sentenced to 10-23 months in jail with 8 years of probation.
