PA Professors Strike Ends, New PHL Airport Addition, Hearings for Hoboken Crash Begin

The union that represents Pennsylvania professors from 14 different PA Universities has now ended their strike after 3 days. The teachers have now reached a tentative contract agreement that met the demands of the union for their salaries and benefits. Teachers and other staff walked out on Wednesday after their union turned down a contract from the universities. The strike that involved over 5,000 faculty an coaches affected class schedules for over 100,000 students in the universities. This was the first strike in the school system's history.

The Philadelphia International Airport has now revealed their latest addition to help control the flow of passengers leaving the airport. The airport revealed their newly finished Terminal F Baggage Claim facility. The finished product took about 2-3 years to complete and is a 34,000 square-foot facility that was part of a $160 million multi-phase project. The terminal also ads space for more concessions as well as other renovations. The terminal is operated exclusively for American Airlines.

An NJ legislative committee has now begun hearings for the train terminal crash that happened in Hoboken in late September of this year. The committee is so far not pleased with New Jersey Transit Executive Direct Stephen Sanatro because he did not show up at the hearing due to being in a meeting. NJT chair and commissioner Richard Hammer talked with the committee stating that the train services is working on a new train control system that could have prevented the crash. Hammer also told the committee that he is not allowed to speak about what happened in the station until the National Transportation Safety Board finishes their investigation which could take up to a year.
