Woman Stabs Man 77 Times, Burns Body; Cumberland Lockdown Lifted; Teen Dead at Wordsworth

A woman has been arrested for stabbing a man 77 times and setting his body on fire in his Germantown apartment last month. 52-year-old Tina Vanderhorst was taken into custody without incident by U.S. Marshals in an apartment in Mayfair where she had been staying with a friend. Vanderhorst is accused of stabbing to death 64-year-old Robert Lynch in his apartment on the 500 block of East Church Lane and then returning on the morning of September 12th to set the body on fire. Police say the motive was an argument. She has been charged with Murder, Robbery, Arson, Causing a Catastrophe, and related offenses. In 1997, Vanderhorst was sentenced to 2 Â½ to seven years in prison for selling her 2-year-old son for $500 to buy drugs. She's been arrested in the past for prostitution, theft, fraud, and other offenses.

A lockdown has been lifted at Cumberland County Community College in Vineland, New Jersey, following a brief security threat this morning. It started just before 10 a.m. Friday after an off-campus robbery at a Subway restaurant. The suspect was at large and a 'precautionary' lockdown was put in place. The all clear was given by Vineland Police at 10:10 a.m. Nothing happened on the school campus itself. There has been no word on whether the suspect has been arrested.

A teenage student died Thursday night following an altercation with staff at a Philadelphia school that serves children with "emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges." It happened at Wordsworth Academy on the 3900 block of Ford Road in the city's Wynnefield Heights section. The school has a residential program and houses some students. The altercation began because the teen had an electronic device he was not supposed to have, like an iPod. Authorities say that, a staff member had him in a headlock and he became unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The teen's identity has not been released. "Although we are shocked and saddened by this event, it is an ongoing investigation, and we are unable to comment further at this time," said Wordsworth spokeswoman Debbie Albert.
