False Kidnapping Report, Grant for Schuylkill Trail, Natalie Portman Campaigns for Clinton

Police received a report Monday stating that a woman was kidnapped in the Juniata section of Philadelphia. A man reported to police saying that he saw a woman in hospital scrubs being hit over the head and dragged into a car on the 600 block of East Erie Avenue at around 9 pm on Sunday. After investigating into the report, and receiving no inquires of a missing person, Police determined the report was false and no kidnapping took place.

Governor Tom Wolf announced today that the Schuylkill River Trail will be getting a $3 million grant to extend the trail farther into the city. The trail already spans three and a half miles along the Schuylkill River within the Philadelphia city limits, and will now continue into South West Philly. The grant will be spent over the next two years and will create a one-quarter mile extension to the trail. Officials are unsure when the project will be completed, but say they hope to break ground in 2017.

As Tuesday marks the deadline for Pennsylvanians to register to vote in November, both Presidential campaigns worked hard to get citizens out to register. The Clinton Campaign had movie star Natalie Portman come to Philly on Monday to encourage voters to vote for Hillary. Portman was at the North East Philly Campaign office, the Elkins Park Campaign office, the Curds n' Whey in Jenkintown Square, and the Ardmore Campaign office. Trump also stopped in Pennsylvania Monday at Ambridge in Beaver County, as well as Wilkes Barre's Mohegan Sun Arena to campaign and get voters out there to vote for him.
