Woman Killed In Kensington, Deadly Accident on I-295, Philly Legal Struggle for Uber and Lyft

Police say a woman was shot and killed Wednesday night in the West Kensington section of Philadelphia. The shooting happened around 7:30 pm on the 100 block of East Sterner Street. The victim was a 47-year-old woman, who was shot in the head, neck and shoulder. When Police arrived she was pronounced dead on the scene. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived, but they say the woman was not the intended target.

Police responded to an accident that happened Wednesday night on I-295 in New Jersey. The accident happened on the southbound lane near the exit for the New Jersey Turnpike, where a tractor trailer collided with a truck, and ended up on top of it. Authorities came onto the scene to work on getting the tractor trailer off the truck, and it was reported the driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. All lanes were closed following the accident, causing a delay on the highway.

The struggle to authorize mobile taxi services such as Uber and Lyft in Philadelphia still continues. The authorization of the services expired last Friday, making them illegal to operate within city limits. The bill passed by the PA senate to allow the services state-wide has bounced around in the House for months now, with lawmakers unable to come to a decision. The bill will be up for vote again the week of October 17th when the House is back in session. If the bill is changed in the House, it will be sent back to the Senate for one more vote.
