Yeadon Suspect Cleared, New Person of Interest; Pipe Detonated in CC; Philadelphia Sports Leagues

Authorities have cleared the victim's boyfriend in Thursday's early morning homicide of a Delaware County woman. Mark Epps was named as a person of interest and wanted for questioning yesterday after 32-year-old Natasha Gibson was found dead of a slash wound to the neck near a friend's house in Yeadon. Police say that he is no longer a suspect after a â€œlengthy interview and investigation." They do have a new person of interest and have released a video with the suspect. Although, she was found in Yeadon, K-9 units traced blood back to 61st and Baltimore in Southwest Philadelphia where they believe the crime happened. Anyone with information on the new person's whereabouts is asked to contact Yeadon Police Detective J. Houghton 610-623-1500 or CID Detective Michael Jay, 610-891-4700.

A suspicious package was found outside of a Center City firehouse this afternoon. Philadelphia Police, ATF, and the bomb squad were at the scene on the 2100 block of Market Street to investigate. Several blocks were shut down. The firehouse was evacuated and nearby office building were told to shelter in place. The package was detonated by the bomb squad. No one was injured. The all clear was given after the bomb squad disposed of the package. No words on the contents.

UPDATE: The suspicious item that was detonated by the bomb squad this afternoon was a pipe that had fallen off of a construction vehicle. The pipe did not contain any explosives. Authorities have discovered several more pipes that fell from the same truck along its route.

Two Philadelphia adult amateur sports leagues have merged and registration opens today for their first joint season. Philadelphia Sports Network and Philly Sport & Social have combined to become Philadelphia Sports Leagues. The company targets participants in their 20's and 30's playing a variety of seasonal sports (basketball, broomball, cornhole, dodgeball, football, kickball, soccer, softball, etc.) on men's, women's, or coed teams of different levels. The combined company will have more than 3,500 teams with more than 50,000 participants. It employs 60 full and part time workers. The company will have $2.5 million in yearly fees and other revenue. In addition to the $40,000 it pays annually to Philadelphia Parks and Recreation for field and gym rentals, the company plans to donate another $25,000.
