Donald Trump made a campaign stop in Aston, Delaware County, his second stop there in as many weeks. This one in front of an estimated 4,000 people. Donald Trump was introduced by former Indiana Basketball coach Bobby Knight, Knight calling Trump the best problem solver he knows. The republican presidential candidate opening with security, saying he would work with police and not against them. Trump also promised he could bring manufacturing jobs back to Pennsylvania by fixing what he calls "broken and unfair international trade deals." Trump closed by saying he would put new American steel into the spine of the country.
A major recall has been issued for all sterile products recently produced by the compounding pharmacy Wells Pharmacy Network. The recall was prompted by concern from the US Food and Drug Administration “over a lack of sterility assurance,†according to the recall announcement issued Thursday. The voluntary recall is for all products prepared between February 22 and September 16. That’s 616 products, including injectable solutions of the hormones progesterone, testosterone and gonadotropin. Though the majority of the items are for humans, 31 of the recalled products are for pets. Any products with a Wells Pharmacy Network label that are not expired are included. Wells Pharmacy Network specializes in “wellness, anti-aging, weight management, urology, ophthalmology, and veterinary compounding solutions,†according to its website. Founded in 2011, it has locations in Ocala, Florida, and Dyersburg, Tennessee, but serves customers nationwide. Consumers who have these products should not use them. Contact the company to determine whether your product is subject to recall and for information on returning it. Any adverse events related to these medications should be reported to the FDA.
Calls for Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf to step down are getting louder. But Stumpf is likely to walk away with a fortune even if he’s forced out over the national uproar about the creation of millions of fake accounts. Stumpf will leave with about $200 million - made up of cash, Wells Fargo stock and options. Even if Stumpf is fired “for cause,†such as violating company policy, he would have to forfeit only a portion of that sum. Stumpf, 63, has been CEO since 2007 and was at the helm the entire time that the phony accounts scandal was taking place at the bank. Two weeks ago Wells Fargo was penalized $185 million in penalties and admitted to firing 5,300 employees for engaging in these shocking tactics. But the groundswell of pressure on Wells Fargo and Stumpf has only grown since the scandal first came to light. Lawmakers called hearings at both the Senate and the House. The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to Wells Fargo. And on Thursday, Elizabeth Warren joined seven other senators in calling for a Department of Labor investigation into Wells Fargo’s firing of the 5,300 employees.
