Amber Alert Cancel, Ava Byrne Found; Woman Charged Shooting DE Student; Havertown Trash Bin Swastica

An Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old girl from Nescopeck Borough, Luzerne County has been canceled. The girl and father have been found safe in New York City. The Pennsylvania State Police issed the alert this morning for the toddler, Ava Byrne, who had been taken by her father, 24-year-old Robert Byrne. He was driving a 2004 Silver Hyundai Elantra. Earlier this afternoon a civilian in Manhattan's West Side saw the vehicle and told a traffic agent who notified police. NYPD pulled over the car and arrested Byrne. Ava was taken to the hospital to be checked, but appeared to be fine.

Delaware Police have arrested a 46-year-old woman in the shooting death of a 19-year-old college student last month. Cheryl Jennings of New Castle is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 19-year-old Malcolm Evans. Evans was on his way to work at FedEx on July 9th when he was shot in the chest while driving in his car. Police found him crashed on Country Path Drive in Rutledge. He died at the hospital. Police were able to track down Jennings through tips and information from the community. There was a $40,000 reward. Evans was attending Delaware State University. Police have not released a motive in the case.

Last week, Esther Cohen-Eskin of Havertown woke up to find that someone had painted a swastika on her trash bin. The longtime resident was shocked, but felt especially targeted as a Jewish woman. She did contact police, who are investigating, but after reaching out to a friend decided to do more. Her friend said, "The only way to triumph hate is with love." As an artist, she decided to paint over the swastika with a positive image of a flower. She also reached out to her neighbors imploring them to paint their trash cans as well. Since the incident on August 19th, she's received messages and photos from not just her neigbors in Havertown but around the world on social media.
