Hunting Park Home Invasion, Burlington NJ Murder Suspect Sought, New PA Traffic Law Update

A father of six was killed in front of his kidsduring a home invasion in Hunting Park overnight. His wife was also left wounded and police are now looking for the suspects who fired a shotgun at the couple. On the 3700 block of North 7th Street, near Rising Sun Avenue, around one in the morning, Chief Inspector Scott Small says two men broke in, went upstairs and encountered a 35-year-old man and his wife. "They demanded money, and for some reason the male with the shotgun shot both of the victims." The blast leaving the man dead. His six kids, between 5 and 13 years old, in the house at the time â€“ some actually in the same room he was killed. Police say the 40-year-old stepmother, despite being shot, was able to give them information. Sheâ€™s listed in critical condition. Police say the father knew one or both of the home invaders. Officers found a bag of shotgun shells and a knit cap in the rear driveway and nearby in the alley, police were able to find a gun.

Police in Burlington, NJ are asking for the public's help to locate a murder suspect. Samuel James, 26, of Burlington Township, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Byron Turner. It happened just before 7 p.m. Saturday outside of Turnerâ€™s home on the 100 block of East Federal Street. Sunday, members of Turner's family passed out purple balloons and comforted one another in his Yorkshire neighborhood. Family members said Turner, a father of two, was not the intended target. His aunt hopes the tragedy can serve as a wake-up call to the community. Samuel James is considered armed and dangerous. He is known to frequent Burlington and Camden. A new update to an old law will help save motorcycle riders some time and aggravation. Traffic lights are run by timers, video sensors or metal sensors in the road. Itâ€™s the inlaid sensors that cause problems for motorists. Sometimes a small car or motorcycle isnâ€™t big enough to trigger the sensor, so the driver just sits there waiting and waiting and waiting for a light that wonâ€™t change. State representative Steve Bloom said the updated law redefines what it means for a light to malfunction. â€œIt changes the definition to include the failure of an inductive loop sensors system to detect the presence of a vehicle,â€ he said. And then, similar to if the light was out or blinking, drivers could proceed as if it were a stop sign. But donâ€™t think this is an excuse to run a light in your pickup truck. â€œThese sensors have no history of failing to detect normal sized vehicles.â€ Bloom said there is no set amount of time a driver must sit before going through. The change takes effect September 19th.
