I-95 Road Rage, New PA Traffic Laws, Jason Bourne Owns Weekend Box Office

Road rage on I-95 turned into a crime scene as a black Cadillac fired shots at the driver of a silver Honda. Authorities say this happened just after 7:00 on Sunday night. Police say bullets did hit the car, but no injuries were reported. The incident happened at Knights and Woodhaven Road in Northeast Philadelphia. The black Cadillac cut off the silver Honda and words were exchanged. That's when the driver of the Cadillac fired a shot into the hood of the Honda. He called police and followed him onto I-95 until the Cadillac exited at Academy. A witness recorded the license plate and police are looking for the car and driver.

Several new traffic laws are taking effect in Pennsylvania in the coming months... including one that may be causing some confusion. There have been reports of a new Pennsylvania law allowing people to drive through red lights that are malfunctioning after waiting a reasonable amount of time. There is such a law but it's not new. What is new is language expanding the definition of a malfunctioning traffic light to include those that use some sensors that House Republican Stephen Bloom said sometimes just don't detect smaller vehicles. Bloom's language was folded into a new law that takes effect in September that also extends the red light camera program into 2027. Another law taking effect in August will require infants under the age of two to be secured in a rear-facing safety seat, which is to be used until the child outgrows the weight and height limits specified by the manufacturer.

'Jason Bourne' is born again... at the box office, anyways. The fifth installment in the action-thriller franchise, with Matt Damon returning in the title role after sitting out the last one, earned an estimated $60-million on its opening weekend for an easy and solid first-place finish. That bested last weekend’s leader, 'Star Trek Beyond,' which took in another $24-million. Right behind it in third place was the debuting maternal comedy, 'Bad Moms,' starring Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell, which totaled $23-million. And rounding out the top five were the animated comedy, 'The Secret Life of Pets,' with $18-million, and the horror thriller, 'Lights Out,' with $11-million.
