DNC Protests, Chelsea Introduces Hillary, Katie McGinty at the DNC

Thursday marked the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Speeches and protesters have been the two underlying themes of the event. The protesters, at times, have drawn more attention than the speeches and while Hillary Clinton prepared to face her biggest audience, so too did the protesters. As the speeches were given on Thursday night, protesters march outside of the arena with signs, chanting and making their voices heard. As the hundreds of protesters gathered, things were calm.

On the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Chelsea Clinton took to the stage to make the case for why the woman she calls mom, should be the next president of the United States. She started by talking about the relationship that her mother shared with her young daughter Charlotte. Like Republican nominee Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton went with her daughter for the honor of introducing her as she accepts the nomination of the party. Chelsea Clinton took the stage with the task of humanizing her mother and making it clear to the people in the arena, and to those tuned in at home, that America should not miss out on the historic chance to elect the first woman president of the country.

Democratic Party officials gave Katie McGinty another big gift besides millions of dollars in campaign funds to help in her bid to unseat Pennsylvania’s Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey in the November election. McGinty spoke Thursday evening at the Democratic National Convention in her native Philadelphia, making her one of only two U.S. Senate candidates to get such a high-profile speaking slot. It was likely McGinty’s biggest stage of the campaign, with millions of people watching on TV and thousands more on hand in the Wells Fargo Center as Democrats try to wrestle away control of the chamber. U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, of Illinois, also spoke Thursday evening as she challenges Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk for his seat.
