Prosecutors dropped remaining charges today against three Baltimore police officers awaiting trial in the death of Freddie Gray. This decision brought an end to the Gray case without a conviction. The decision by prosecutors came after a judge had already acquitted Officer Caesar Goodson, Officer Edward Nero, and Lt. Brian Rice. The case of Officer William Porter resulted in a mistrial at the end of last year. The trial for Sgt. Alicia White had been scheduled to begin in October. Prosecutors in the case had argued that Gray was illegally arrested after he ran from a bike patrol officer in April 2015. Prosecutors also claimed that the officers failed to buckle Gray into a seat belt or call a medic when he indicated he wanted to go to a hospital.

A Bucks County, Pennsylvania high school teacher and assistant football coach has been electrocuted by a power line that fell into his yard. The Northampton County coroner says it appears 32-year-old Thomas Poynton Jr. died from the current of the 34,500-volt line even though he didn't come into contact with it. The electricity apparently passed through the ground of his yard in Williams Township and shocked him. Met-Ed was still investigation what caused the line to fail. Other lines had been downed by heavy thunderstorms on Monday evening. Poynton died when the line came down about 10am Tuesday. Poynton taught and coached at Palisades High School in neighboring Bucks County.

Actress and outspoken Bernie Sanders supporter Susan Sarandon isn’t having such a good time at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Sarandon, 69, was spotted in the DNC crowd on Monday night shaking her head and closing her eyes as various speakers addressed the audience in support of Hillary Clinton. Ian McKenna, a NowThis News videographer, captured one instance on video and turned it into a GIF for Twitter, completing it with the caption, “Susan Sarandon is having literally the worst time at the #DemConvention”. Sarandon tweeted “Accurate.”
