Hundreds of activists gathered outside the Mazzoni Center at 8th and Locust in Center City this afternoon to create a 'Great Wall of Love.' They were staging a counter-protest against the Westboro Baptist Church who had planned a protest outside of the clinic that provides HIV testing. Westboro Baptist Church members are known for their strong anti-gay messages, misappropriating scripture for their cause. Many protestors were carrying signs similar to the church's except with message like, "God Hates Ketchup On Hot Dogs", "God Hates Warm Beer," and "God Hates When The Servers Go Down." The church members left after about 45 minutes.

A New Jersey nurse who was caught on video stabbing an autistic boy with a needle has agreed to turn in her nursing license temporarily while while authorities investigate. Naomi Derrick is accused of gross negligence, professional misconduct and incompetence. The 10-year-old boy was at AtlantiCare Regional Health Care's inpatient psychiatric unit in Atlantic City. Derrick allegedly would threaten the boy with the needle if he did not comply or behave. She did stick him on six different occasions, on the upper arm, thigh, hand, foot, and knee caps. It was caught on surveillance tape on May 15th. She is also accused of bending back his finger and stepping on his foot.

The Democratic National Convention continues on Tuesday in Philadelphia from the Wells Fargo Center. Tuesday's theme is "A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families."
