Following the Friday release of 1,000's of hacked e-mails from the Democratic National Committee, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced on Sunday that she will resign at the end of the four day convention starting in Philadelphia on Monday. The emails, which were released on Wikileaks, paint a picture that the Democratic Party favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the primary instead of remaining neutral. The Florida congresswoman faced lots of pressure from Democratic colleagues. Bernie Sanders even called for her immediate resignation. Pro-Sanders demonstrators cheered the news during a protest in Philadelphia this afternoon. DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile will take over as interim chair this week. Wasserman Shultz may speak briefly at the beginning of the convention on Monday.

Thousands of protestors/demonstrators have already hit the streets in Philadelphia over this weekend ahead of the Democratic National Convention. That number will certainly grow as the convention officially kicks off on Monday. Most of the demonstrations are planned for FDR Park, across from the Wells Fargo Center, however you may see sanctioned and unsanctioned protests anywhere in the City. Other most likely locations include City Hall, Broad Street, Independence Hall, the Convention Center, and the Constitution Center. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for this week. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid/upper 90's. If you are outside marching, or otherwise demonstrating, make sure to limit your activity, drink plenty of water, and try to stay out of the sun. There will some misting locations and water available, but make sure to to be prepared for yourself.

Firefighter officials are investigating after a Philadelphia firefighter died while on-duty Saturday night during night shift. 42-year-old Gabriel Lee of Ladder Company 12 was found unresponsive in the basement gym of the West Cambria Street firehouse last night. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of death. Lee had been a firefighter for over 20 years. He was also an amateur boxer and in good shape. He had responded to at least one fire that day before returning to the firehouse.
