No Philly Median Parking for DNC; Body in Trunk ID'd; Pedestrian Killed by Amtrak

Parking restrictions in South Philly have been announced for the upcoming Democratic National Convention coming in about a week. The road closures are far less restrictive that last year's Papal Visit though. You had better move your car off that median, seriously. There will be several protests and demonstrations marching down South Broad Street during the week of the convention and the mayor's office is saying they're actually going to enforce that law between Washington and Packer Aves from July 24th-29th. You won't just get a ticket, it'll get towed too. You can legally park curbside as long as you follow the signs. SEPTA has closed it's commuter lot at AT&T Station at the south end of the Broad Street Line starting tonight. It's being used by the DNC. You can park for free at the Naval Hospital, which is only a 5-minute walk along Pattison Ave. and has 1600 spaces.

Philadelphia Police have identified the body of a woman found in the truck of a car in the city's Mayfair section. 23-year-old Tinika Ballard was previously reported missing by her family. She was last seen leaving her home on Vista Street on July 6th driving her white, four-door Chevy Cruze. The car was found on the 7500 block of Leon Street around 1 pm. Ballard's body was discovered in the truck. Police say that foul play is not suspected. Her family had told police that she had been suicidal. The medical examiner will determine manner and cause of death.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Delaware County this morning. It happened around 11 am near the Prospect Park SEPTA station in the 100 block of East Hinkley Avenue. Train 184 was traveling from Washington, DC, to New York City when it struck the pedestrian. There were 359 passengers on board the train; no injuries were reported. The passengers were transferred to a SEPTA train and taken to Philadelphia.

Sports
Former Villanova point guard and Bucks County native Ryan Arcidiacono has signed a multi-year deal with the San Antonio Spurs. The deal is reportedly worth at least a guaranteed $75,000.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has decided to drop his appeal and serve his four-game suspension for the "Deflategate" scandal. His last appeal was rejected by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and his final chance would have been to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed forward Dario Saric. The rights to Saric were acquired on draft night in 2014. He has played the last two years in Croatia and Turkey. He is only 22-years-old.
