A father and young son were killed and a third person sent to the hospital after a watercraft accident in Atlantic County on Saturday. It happened just before 5 p.m. in Patcong Creek near Jennings Gateway Marina in Somers Point, NJ. The father and 8-year-old son were out riding on a water ski and collided with another water ski out on the water. The third person was transported to Shore Memorial Hospital with a wrist injury. She has been identified as a 55-year-old woman from Egg Harbor Township. State police are investigating the cause of the accident. The victims were visiting from Maryland.

SEPTA has announced that it has identified a "significant structural defect" in some of its Regional Rail cars and has pulled them out of service for inspection. The 120 Silverliner V Regional Rail cars make up one third of the fleet. The problem lies with the "truck," the part that holds the motor, wheels and axles in place. A part needs to be replaced and may take two weeks to manufacture. Weekend and holiday schedules should not be affected, but contingency plans for weekday service are being developed. SEPTA officials plan to hold a press conference on Sunday to discuss next week's schedules.

UPDATE: SEPTA officials announced at a press conference on Sunday that commuters can expect challenges in the coming weeks while riding the Regional Rail. They will be using a modified Saturday schedule with added rush hour service. SEPTA will also bolster the Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, Norristown High Speed Line, and Media-Sharon Hill Line. Exact details will be available on Monday for Tuesday's commute.

The FBI and Montgomery Township Police Department are asking the public's help in identifying a man dubbed the "Straw Hat Bandit." He's believed to have robbed at least 10 banks in Montgomery and Bucks Counties since 2012. They say he struck again on Saturday morning at the PNC Bank located on the 1200 block of Welsh Road in North Wales. He's described as male, older than 50, at least 6' tall, wearing a dark suit jacket, light color dress shirt w/ navy tie, dark pants, and white rubber gloves. He also wears a tan hat and cloth mask, hence his nickname. (see photo below) Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Montgomery Township Police Department at 215-362-2301. PNC Bank is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
