| IKEA Dresser Recall, Olympic Swim Trials, Utley Gladwyne Home Sale Price Reduced |

Ikea is recalling millions of dressers that can tip over and are being blamed for the deaths of three children. The dressers have been known to fall over if they are not fastened to the wall, and the issue was already linked to the death of two toddlers that spurred Ikea to launch a repair program in July 2015. There were no immediate details about the death of the third child. Ikea said it’s been in “close contact†with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which helps carry out recalls, about how to remedy the hazard. The CPSC declined to comment Monday evening. Ikea would not confirm to CNNMoney what customers will receive under the recall, though the Philadelphia Inquirer reported full refunds will be offered. The problem has been associated with several styles of dressers, though it was Malm chests and dressers that have been linked to at least two of the deaths over the past two years. The company did not alter the product’s design or take it off the market following the launch of the repair program in 2015. The repair program provided new kits to attach the dressers to the wall for customers who hadn’t used the original hardware to secure the dressers. Three other deaths linked to different Ikea dressers have occurred since 1989. This is the latest string of bad news for Ikea. In January, a nonprofit slammed the company for allegedly “illegal and unfair working conditions†in factories that make kitchenware for Ikea and several other major retailers. A month later, European politicians accused the company of evading more than $1 billion in taxes, which Ikea denied.
Dana Vollmer is heading back to the Olympics, this time as a mother. Less than 16 months after giving birth to her first child, Vollmer finished second behind Kelsi Worrell in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. swimming trials on Monday night, giving her a chance to defend her Olympic title in Rio. The 28-year-old Vollmer, a four-time gold medalist, was cheered on by her husband and their son, Arlen. One night after stunningly missing out on an Olympic berth in the 400 individual medley, an ailing Ryan Lochte swam two more grueling races to qualify for the final of the 200 freestyle.
Shaking off the pain of a groin injury, Lochte got through the morning preliminaries and posted the fifth-fastest time in the evening semifinals. But Lochte has his work cut out for him to earn an Olympic berth in Tuesday’s final, and he’s admittedly having trouble with his kicks and turns. He posted a time of 1 minute, 47.58 seconds, getting passed by both Conor Dwyer and Clark Smith on the final lap of their semifinal heat. “All I wanted to do was get a lane for tomorrow and that’s what I did,†Lochte said. “Tomorrow is definitely going to be rough, and it’s going to be fast.â€
Dwyer, who already earned a spot on the Olympic team in the 400 free, was the top qualifier at 1:46.96. Kevin Cordes and Cody Miller finishes 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke, eachearning their first trip to the Olympics. Deaf swimmer Marcus Titus finished sixth. The second night of the trials was headlined by Katie Ledecky, who was competing in the 400-meter freestyle.
If you are in the market for a new house, Chase Utley’s old place is now being sold at a reduced price. Utley’s former Gladwyne home hit the market in April for nearly $3.5 million. Now, the home can be yours for a price closer to $2.9 million. The former Phillie has owned the property for nearly three years. He isn’t the only Philadelphia legend to call it home. Sixers legend, and NBA Hall of Fame inductee, Allen Iverson used to own the property. He sold the house back in 2006.
