At the urging of Governor Tom Wolf to 'free the 6-pack,' the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board approved the licenses of several business that also sell gasoline. 9 different businesses across the state were approved to sell up to 192 ounces of malt or brewed beverages. The gas stations must have a convenience type store that regularly serves food and have seating for at least 30 people. Wolf believes the change "will make the commonwealth more inviting for customers and businesses." Previously, liquor sales were banned from establishments that sold flammable liquids. None of the new licenses are in Southeastern Pennsylvania, but this opens the doors for properly outfitted Wawa locations to apply.

Philadelphia Police have arrested and charged a Frankford man with the fatal hit-and-run in the Northeast early on Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian dead. 35-year-old John Cook of Tackawanna Street is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and related crimes. Cook was on his way home from work shortly after 12:30 a.m. when he plowed through a SEPTA bus shelter at Cottman and Bustleton Ave. ripping it off its moorings. 50-year-old Alejo Molina was standing inside the shelter and was thrown 100 feet. Cook got out of his vehicle, looked at the damage and Molina, and took off running. He turned himself into police around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed PA Senate Bill 290 into law on Wednesday. The law requires the use of ignition interlock devices for some first-time drunk driving offenders. If you are convicted of a DUI for the first time and had a blood alcohol level of .10% or greater then your car will be outfitted with the interlock device. Previously, only repeat offenders were subject to the device. A driver has to blow into the device and register no alcohol in order for the car to start. The legal limit for any DUI in Pennsylvania is .08%
