Edmonds Boiler Explosion Kills Worker, Vacant Buildings Cause Turkey Vulture Problems

School officials say the maintenance worker who was injured when a boiler exploded at a school in West Oak Lane has died. It was about four months ago when the boiler at the Franklin Edmonds Elementary School exploded while 61-year-old Christopher Trakimas was working on it. He suffered 3rd degree burns and other injuries as a result, and he died yesterday at Einstein Hospital.

A Philadelphia woman says Turkey Vultures are a problem on her street and she blames vacant, condemned buildings. Engrid Bullock grew up on North 50th Street and is proud to still call it home. She said the vultures pick apart her trash and have posed a threat to her family and neighbors. Turkey Vultures, also known as buzzards are a protected species, meaning it is illegal to harm or kill them.
