Bicyclist Killed By SEPTA Bus in Frankford; Conwell-Egan Lockdown; Settlement in Rodin Fall

A bicyclist is dead after colliding with a SEPTA bus in the city's Frankford section. It happened around 11:45 a.m. on Orthodox Street near Aramingo Avenue. The 44-year-old bicyclist was struck by the Route J bus and was killed. There were no passengers on the bus at the time and the driver was not hurt. Accident investigators are piecing together the cause of the accident and examining video from the bus.

Conwell-Egan High School in Fairless Hills, Bucks County, was under lockdown for most of the day after a reported threat. Bristol Township Police were notified of an anonymous â€œgeneral threat to the safety of the school campusâ€ by the FBI around 7:30 a.m. The entire school was placed on lockdown as a precaution as authorities performed sweeps and searches of the campus. The lockdown was lifted at 1 p.m. when it was determined all clear. Spokesman Ken Gavin said, "Archdiocesan high schools take any threat seriously as the safety and well-being of students is always a primary concern." The school had posted information about the threat to their Facebook page.

An engineer who fell 38 feet through a glass ceiling at the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia over three years ago has reached a settlement for $7.25 million. Phani Guthula was working as an energy efficiency engineer for ICF International and was tasked to inspect lighting fixtures at the museum on the Parkway. On November 26, 2012, he had to inspect fixtures located above a glass paneled surface and was told he could step onto the glass by his security escort. However, the glass shattered and he fell nearly to his death. The settlement comes just as jury selection was set to begin in the civil case.
