PA Primary Polls Close at 8pm; Father Shoots Son in Mayfair; Turnpike Tractor Trailer Victim ID

Polls close at 8 p.m. here in Pennsylvania on primary day. Reportedly, voter turnout has been fairly heavy throughout the region. The hotly contested Presidential races in both parties are certainly drawing out the voters. Also, watch the Attorney General race, which will determine the possible successors to the embattled Kathleen Kane. U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah decided to continue to run for his Congressional seat despite being on trial for racketeering and bribery. He is going up against three challengers for the first time in decades. Democrats are also selecting a candidate for U.S. Senate to run against Republican incumbent Pat Toomey.

A man is in critical condition after being shot by his father following an argument in Northeast Philadelphia. It happened around 1 p.m. on the 3200 block of Princeton Street in the Mayfair section. A 38-year-old man and his father were driving in a car and got into an argument. At one point they pulled over and the son was shot once in the chest. An off-duty firefighter gave aid to the man before he was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital in critical condition. The father was taken into custody and the weapon was recovered.

The young woman killed yesterday by an overturned tractor trailer on the Pennsylvania turnpike has been identified. 18-year-old Kelly Oâ€™Brien of Moorestown, NJ, was a freshman Communications major at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. The crash happened around 3 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes between the Willow Grove and Bensalem exits. The two vehicles made contact while moving, sending them both off the road and into the embankment. The trailer then rolled over onto the top of O'Brien's car. It was carrying 20,000 lbs of soap. She was the only one inside and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was treated for non life-threatening injuries at the hospital. The eastbound turnpike was closed until early Tuesday morning.
