A Temple University lacrosse player who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident while riding her bike on campus last year just days before graduation will be able to walk at this year's ceremony and receive her diploma. Rachel Hall of Mullica Hill, NJ, was struck at the intersection of Park Ave. and Diamond Street around 7:30 p.m. on April 29th, 2015. She suffered serious head and leg injuries and has spent the past year in intensive rehab. "If you were to see Rachel in critical condition a year ago, you would never expect her to be in the condition she is now," her mother, Kathy, wrote on Facebook. "She is truly a miracle." 18-year-old Rashan Roberts was driving the striking vehicle that fled the scene. He only had a learner's permit at the time. He turned himself in a few days later. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison and five years probation. Hall will participate in commencement on May 5th. Her facebook page has detailed her recovery. https://www.facebook.com/RachelHallTempleStrong

One person is dead after a tractor trailer turned over onto a car on the eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bucks County this afternoon. It happened around 3 p.m. Monday between the Willow Grove and Bensalem exits near mile marker 350.1 in Bensalem. A tractor trailer carrying 20,000 lbs of soap overturned onto another vehicle trapping several people inside. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to the hospital. The eastbound lanes of the turnpike were shutdown.

A Pennsylvania Superior Court rejected entertainer Bill Cosby's pre-trial appeal and request to have sexual assault charges withdrawn. Cosby had argued that charges shouldn't be brought because of a deal he made in 2005 with then District Attorney Bruce Castor. Cosby would testify in a civil deposition without fear of prosecution. Current Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says there is no evidence of the deal. Regardless, the court's ruling did not address that issue, it rejected the defense's ability to bring such a pretrial appeal, usually reserved for post trial. No date has been set for a preliminary hearing.

Tonight,
Partly cloudy, temperatures in the lower 70's/upper 60's this evening in Center City
