While Taylor Swift was accepting her Grammy Award Monday night for album of the year for "1989," Swift sent a message to the young women watching -- and took a jab at Kanye West. Swift wants Kanye West to know that it wasn't him who made her "Famous." West released a song earlier this week, titled "Famous." In it, he raps, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous." Swift's people say West did not ask for permission to use the controversial line in the song, and claimed that Swift advised against releasing a song with such a "strong misogynistic message." West, however, disputed those claims, tweeting that Swift indeed gave him her blessing and that she thought the line was "funny."

Philadelphia will be losing over 1300 manufacturing jobs. Cardone, the Philadelphia auto-parts rebuilder which calls itself the city's largest remaining manufacturing company, will shift 1,336 workers from its brake caliper plants on Whitaker Ave. and Rising Sun Ave. to a plant in Matamoros, Mexico, just south of Cardone's warehouses in Brownsville, Texas over the next two years. Philly.com reports the company, which has been shifting production from Northeast Philly to the lower-wage Texas-Mexico border region for years, told the Pennsylvania Department of Labor last month about the layoff plan. Workers are being let go "at a rate of about 10 to 20 a month this year, and 20 to 30 a month from the later part of 2017 into 2018," before the shutdown, Kevin Feeley, a spokesman for the company, told me. "This is not going to happen tomorrow."
Rowan University is taking steps toward creating a medical school campus in Atlantic City, extending the footprint of its growing medical programs and potentially tapping a new student base there. Rowan trustees will vote Wednesday on a feasibility study to explore an Atlantic City partnership between the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and AtlantiCare. Trustees will vote on awarding a contract to the Pittsburgh-based consulting firm Tripp Umbach to conduct the study "to understand the impacts associated with a potential four-year branch campus of a medical school," according to the agenda for Wednesday's board meeting.
