Villanova Student Arrested Selling LSD; Extended Freezing Rain/Ice; Norovirus Cause at Ursinus

Two Villanova University freshmen are under arrest after three young people were taken to the hospital over the weekend under the influence of LSD. 18-year-old Justin Yim from Douglaston, New York has been arrested after Radnor Police discovered 37 doses of LSD, marijuana, and $9,000 in cash in his dorm room on South Campus. It started early Saturday morning, just after midnight, when police responded to a call of an out-of-control student who assaulted a female. He was arrested and taken to Bryn Mawr hospital. That student turned to be Yim's roomate. Shortly after, another freshman and a juvenile female were also picked up by public safety and taken to the hospital under the influence. All three students have been released from the hospital. Yim is being held on $50,000 bail. The student arrested on assault has not been identified.

A Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect through 3 am Tuesday morning. 1-3 inches of snow is expected before a changeover to sleet and ice and then all rain by later tonight. PennDOT is urging caution for anyone out on the roads this evening as they are very slippery. Crews are out treating roads. There are reduced speeds to 45 mph on all area highways including the PA Turnpike, Blue Route, Schuylkill Expressway, and I-95 as well as US and State route highways. Temperatures will start rising as the night goes on and expect it all to change to rain.

Montgomery County Health officials say that a Norovirus was to blame for last week's outbreak of sickness at Ursinus College in Collegeville. Officials received confirmation from Phoenixville Hospital that two students tested positive for Norovirus. Students began to get sick late last Tuesday night. Classes were eventually cancelled on Thursday. The campus was back open for classes on Monday. All common areas including the dining hall were aggressively cleaned and hand sanitizer dispensers were installed. 214 students fell ill with the stomach virus which lasted 18-24 hours.

Health officials say:
Norovirus infection causes gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines). This leads to diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

Norovirus illness is often called by other names, such as food poisoning and stomach flu. Noroviruses can cause food poisoning, as can other germs and chemicals. Norovirus illness is not related to the flu (influenza). Though they share some of the same symptoms, the flu is a respiratory illness caused by influenza virus.
