Police are investigating a knifepoint robbery which left a cab driver injured in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia. The incident happened around midnight near 4th and Catherine streets. Jaswant Mann of Somerton said he picked up a fare, who pulled out a knife and placed the knife to his neck. After a brief struggle, the 51-year-old driver was slashed in the hand, and the suspect fled on foot with $70 cash. Mann drove himself to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, received stitches for the slash wound and was released. Detectives surrounded the cab outside the hospital to search for evidence. Police continue to search for the suspect.

The gymnasium at Ursinus College is serving as a makeshift cafeteria today, after at least 100 students were sickened and the school voluntarily shut down its dining hall. Health officials are still working to determine what caused the outbreak at the school in Collegeville, Montgomery County. Several students reported feeling ill Tuesday night. By Wednesday afternoon, dozens had showed up at the school's medical offices with symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain. The school says it knows of 100 students who were sickened. Twenty-two students were treated at local hospitals or urgent care centers.

Developers are buying up more real estate around the Gallery at Market East which will become a high end outlet mall. Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) and Macerich Company have been quietly buying up property across the street. The acquisition of three buildings on the 1000 block of Market Street show the developers' bullishness on the area's resurgence, which the $325 million Gallery project aims to fuel.
