Crews were called to the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia Sunday evening after a sinkhole developed. The sinkhole formed on the 1600 block of North Street. There was a water main break on the block earlier in the week. The Water Department is working to repair the hole. A postal truck got stuck in the hole earlier in the evening. The Water Department says people on the block will be without water until at least Monday morning.

Amtrak officials are investigating after an unknown object struck a passenger train and cracked a window Sunday evening as it was passing through Philadelphia. According to officials, unidentified objects were thrown at an Acela Express train around 7 p.m. as it was traveling through Bridesburg. Amtrak says 201 passengers were on board the train bound for New York City from Washington D.C. when the incident happened. There were no reported injuries to passengers or crew members.
Amtrak and local authorities are investigating the incident, including the type of objects that hit the train. The incident happened one day before federal investigators were set to release thousands of pages of documents and evidence related to the probe of the deadly derailment of Amtrak train 188 a few miles away in May.

A familiar animated panda led the way at the box office over the weekend. The second sequel, Kung Fu Panda 3, with Jack Black voicing the lead, earned an estimated $41-million over the weekend, for an easy first-place finish. The distant runner-up was the Oscar-nominated drama, The Revenant. It took in $12-million. The sci-fi blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, took third with $11-million. Placing fourth was the new rescue thriller, The Finest Hours, with $10-million.
One other new release cracked the top ten: the comedy spoof, Fifty Shades of Black, earned $6-million, good for ninth place. Overall, industry-wide totals were higher than those of last weekend and those of last year on the same weekend.
