A New Jersey state trooper was killed this morning after his cruiser slammed into a telephone police in Salem County. 30-year-old Trooper Eli McCarson was responding to a domestic violence call when his car went off the right side of the road. The front-end was destroyed and the doors were jammed trapping him inside. Rescuers were eventually able to pry open the doors and transport him to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. McCarson was married. He graduated from the academy in February and was assigned to the Woodstown Station.

A 19-year-old Pennsylvania teenager has been arrested on charges that he attempted to provide support to the Islamic State. Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz of Harrisburg was charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to terrorists. Investigators discovered a "tactical style backpack" in his closet containing five loaded high-capacity magazines, a modified kitchen knife, a thumb drive, medication and a balaclava. Aziz also used 57 different twitter accounts to post ISIS propaganda and advocate violence against the US. He used social media to assist individuals' travel to Syria in order to fight with IS. Aziz also posted the personal information of 100 military members and called for violence against them.

A Montgomery County woman was sentenced today for injecting her daughter with heroin. 37-year-old Patricia Davenport of Harleysville pled guilty in October to buying the drugs and injecting her then 15-year-old daughter and her boyfriend. A letter from her daughter was read in court where she said, “I have forgiven, but this is something I will never forget.” Judge William Carpenter said that he has seen a mountain of bad things but this is "high up on the mountaintop." Daveneport was sentenced to 5-10 years on possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, 1-7 years concurrent on endangering the welfare of children, and 6-months, time-served, on conspiracy to sell drugs.
