DE Couple Arrested Murder of Infant; Mother Charged Arson/Kidnap; Motion Denied for Griffin Campbell

A mother and father from Delaware have been arrested for the murder of their infant son. 37-year-old Doyle Hundley and 28-year-old Casey Layton of Harbeson are charged with first degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child. On May 23rd, authorities responded to the 18000 block of Harbeson Road for a report of a 3-month-old having a seizure. The baby was admitted to A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital in critical condition with broken bones and head trauma. He remained on life support for 5 months and died on September 22nd. After an autopsy the death was ruled a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head. Bail is set at $106,000 for each. The couple's 2-year-old son has been placed in the custody of Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families. He showen no signs of abuse.

A mother, with her cousin as an accomplice, set fire to a home in Washington Township, New Jersey, while attempting to kidnap her 3-year-old daughter Thursday night. 32-year-old Lynette McGuire and 33-year-old Denise Coyle, both from Bensalem, PA, have been charged with aggravated arson, attempted kidnapping, and burglary. The two women went to a home on the 800 block of Lafayette Court to kidnap McGuire's four children who live there under custody of their grandparents. When their plan did not work, they set fire to the garage to force everyone out of the house. They took the 3-year-old and tried to get away. Police caught up to them about a mile away at Route 42 and Fries Mill Road. Everyone escaped the burning home unharmed. McGuire and Coyle are being held on $100,000 bail each.

A Philadelphia judge denied a motion for acquittal or a new trial from the lawyer representing the demolition contractor convicted in the Salvation Army thrift store collapse. The defense lawyer for Griffin Campbell argued that a senior prosecutor on the case used â€œselective racial prosecutionâ€ when deciding to charge Campbell but not the building owner or architect. That prosecutor is Frank Fina who is caught up in the Porngate e-mail scandal. Judge Glenn Bronson said that he cannot launch such a probe at this time and any questions about a racially motivated grand jury investigation should have been brought up pre-trial or post-sentence. Campbell will be sentenced on January 8th.
