In San Bernardino suspected shooters have been identified and a shootout between authorities and occupants of a black SUV has taken place, killing two of the suspected shooters involved in the mass killing of 14 and wounding of 17 others at the Inland Regional Center social services building. A third suspect has been detained. The dead suspects names have been released: Syed Farook, 28 & female Tashfeen Milik, 27 confirmed by the Associated Press. Police chief says the two had a 6 month old baby at home with Farook's mother, who thought the two were going to a doctor's appointment. Instead, they put on assault gear, armed themselves and stormed a holiday party attended by San Bernardino County employees. The motive is under investigation. Shelter in place orders have been lifted. The FBI is not certain yet if this was an act of terrorism. Upwards of 14 people were killed, and 17 wounded with 10 critical victims Wednesday at the Inland Regional Center social services building, and police were searching for up to three armed gunmen, authorities said. San Bernardino City Police Chief Jarrod Burguan: Two suspects dead (1 male, 1 female) in shootout with police four hours after mass shooting; Third person seen running away has been "detained", not certain they were involved or bystander. Shelter-in-place order lifted in neighborhood where shootout occurred; no other suspects found; "we feel confident there is nobody outstanding in neighborhood" where shootout occurred. Still clearing the Inland Regional Center; still working on possible "device" at site. FBI: Still not certain this is terrorism, but "we will go where the evidence takes us. It is possible it will go down that road; it may not. This is a very fluid, active investigation." Victims have been taken to Loma Linda, Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. The lockdown of San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) schools and offices has been lifted.

A discount for regular drivers over the four Delaware River bridges went into effect on Tuesday. Already 2,577 E-ZPass transponders have been registered on 1,869 accounts according to the Delaware River Port Authority. The discount returns $18 each month to motorists with New Jersey E-ZPass accounts who drive over the bridges 18 times in a month. PATCO posted information on its web site on how to sign up, and reiterated Wednesday that customers who register by Dec. 28 will have their trips over the bridge throughout the month retroactively apply toward the discount.

Today in the Logan section of Philadelphia, officials announced that a new nonprofit group, Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB), hopes to raise $25 million to build a sports and education complex on part of a forsaken piece of property known as the Logan Triangle. The program uses basketball as a means to help young people, particularly those from poor communities, develop as athletes, students, and citizens. An 80-student pilot program currently operates at four Philadelphia public schools. The plan represents a serious effort to reclaim one of the city's largest and most troubled vacant lots, though big challenges lie ahead, including fund-raising.
