The governors of Michigan and Alabama have halted the resettlement of Syrian refugees, but Governor Wolf says Pennsylvania will not follow suit. Governor Wolf says those responsible for the Paris terrorist attacks must be brought to justice. But in a written statement released by his press office, Wolf says "families leaving Syria are trying to escape the same violence and unimaginable terror." In the statement, the governor says Pennsylvania officials will continue to work with federal authorities to ensure that all individuals are properly screened. Wolf's statement goes on to say he wants Pennsylvania to “continue to build on its rich history of accepting immigrants and refugees from around the world.” Wolf has also ordered flags over the state capitol and Commonwealth facilities to half-staff, and has decreed that the capitol be lit up in blue, red and white to honor victims of the Paris attacks.

A tragic accident causes a popular non-profit organization at Penn State to cancel a popular fundraising effort. Thon is a weekend long dance marathon in February at Penn State where students raise money for kids with cancer. Each year they hold different fundraisers to earn that money. One of those ways is canning, where students stand in traffic and ask for people to donate by putting money in a can they hold. With an accident where they lost a volunteer on the first fundraising outreach canning weekend of the year, outreach and canning weekends have been cancelled. They have other fundraisers they are initiating.

Philly native Patti LaBelle is known for more than just her music . Her culinary resume includes a cooking show, line of sauces, and cookbooks. A viral video has helped her latest venture, Patti Pies, fly off the shelves. Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies have become an internet sensation. It started with an enthusiastic video review of the pie that was posted on Facebook by a man named James Wright. After cutting open the box and taking a bite, Wright began to sing like Patti LaBelle. The video has over 8 million views on Facebook. Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies are being sold at Walmart for $4.00 but are sold out. They are available on eBay for upwards of $45.
