Princeton Prof Wins Nobel; Brother Accused in Murder Found; Towne House in Media to Close

Princeton University's Angus Deaton has won the Nobel prize in economics for "his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare." Sixty nine year old Deaton was born in Edinburgh but now works at Princeton in New Jersey and has both U.S. and British citizenship. Deaton's work revolves around three central questions: How do consumers distribute their spending; how much income is spent and saved; and how do we best measure and analyze welfare and poverty? Deaton describes himself as "someone who's concerned with the poor of the world and how people behave, and what gives them a good life."

A West Philly man accused of his brother's murder is in custody near Pittsburgh after two weeks on the run. Twenty nine year old Dominic Rountree allegedly shot his 31 year old brother Jacquell with a .22-caliber rifle during an argument at their home in the Parkside section. The brothers lived in the basement of the house and their fight involved the rooms they occupied. Dominic allegedly shot his brother several times with the rifle before running and eventually heading to western Pennsylvania.

After 65 years in the restaurant business, the Town House in Media is closing. Open since the Truman era, Dâ€™Ignazioâ€™s Towne House will close at the end of the year after being sold to a developer. The Baltimore Pike landmark has hosted politicians, casual diners, family birthdays and weddings since 1950. Owner, Silvio â€œBabeâ€ Dâ€™Ignazio passed away in 2008. His wife, Elizabeth â€œLibbyâ€ died in April.
