Wilmington Good Samaritan Dies, Facebook Dislike Button, UPS Holiday Hiring

A man died Monday night after he was stabbed in Wilmington, Delaware. Police say 27 year old Thomas Cottingham died protecting a woman and her child allegedly being chased by 25-year-old Calvin Hooker, III. Police say he allegedly had a knife and he was running after the woman pushing her infant in a stroller. The woman ran to the bus stop and boarded a bus when Cottingham stepped in to save her. Police say Hooker allegedly stabbed him in the back and torso. Hooker is now behind bars facing first degree murder charges, among others.

Facebook is working on a â€œdislikeâ€ button, finally giving users one of the most frequently requested features. In the past, Facebook has resisted the notion of a dislike button, saying it preferred to encourage positive interactions among its 1.5 billion users. Mark Zuckerberg says the new feature will allow people to â€œexpress empathyâ€ with their Facebook friends, â€œIf you are sharing something that is sadâ€¦then it may not feel comfortable to â€˜likeâ€™ that post.â€

UPS said Tuesday it will hire 90,000 to 95,000 employees â€” about the same as last year â€” to help handle shipping and deliveries over the holiday season. The company has struggled to handle a crush of online shipping over the past two years, particularly during the last, frenzied days of the shopping season, when retailers entice people into buying last-minute gifts by offering free shipping. Millions of packages arrived late in 2013 and 2014. The Atlanta-based company will hire package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers to work full-time and part-time at locations around the U.S. The seasonal jobs will last from November to January. UPS said seasonal jobs can become permanent jobs in some cases. As a federal contractor UPS will pay a minimum wage of $10.10 an hour, and some driving jobs will pay about $30 an hour. The company said applications must be submitted online .
