Jersey Teen Arrested for Threats Against Pope; SEPTA Interactive Papal Visit Map; Indego Gets $1.5 M

A 15-year-old South Jersey boy was arrested last month by the FBI for making online threats against Pope Francis and his US visit. The unidentified boy sympathized with ISIS and communicated the desire to plan an attack involving guns and explosives. Sources say that although the teen's threats were real, they did not go beyond online communications and that there were no credible threats that included a specific plan of action. Visitors to the events during the Papal Weekend in Philadelphia will have to go through secure screening to enter parts of the festival grounds.

SEPTA has released an online interactive map with information for everyone planning to use SEPTA during the weekend of the Papal Visit September 26-27th. The map shows the Regional Rail lines, Norristown High Speed Line, Route 101 & 102, Broad Street Line, and Market Frankford El. All the stations that will be operating during the weekend are shown. If you click on the outlying station you bought a ticket for you'll get a map with road closures, pickup/drop off points, pedestrian walkways, and parking if available. Go to http://www.septa.org/fares/papal-map.html and figure out ahead of time how you plan to get to and from the station.

Philadelphia's bike share program has received a $1.5 million grant to expand services by adding bikes and stations. Indego launched this past April with 72 stations throughout the greater Center City area. Since then, there have been 250,000 trips taken on the rentable bikes. The William Penn Foundation is donating this grant to help expand Indego's reach, specifically to give access to the city's waterfronts and parks. The grant, part of William Penn's Watershed Protection program, will go towards building 24 new stations in locations that give residents and visitors chances to explore Philadelphia growing network of trails. Indego riders can buy a monthly membership or you can pay as you go from any station.
