Papal Tickets Go Quickly, Cape May Papal Mass Stream, Francis Fields Camping in Fairmount Park

Officials with the World Meeting of Families say reservations for all 10,000 tickets for the Papal Mass were placed within 30 seconds Wednesday night. Officials say 10,000 tickets were made available online beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST Wednesday on a first come, first served basis and individuals were limited to four (4) tickets per person. The Papal Mass will be held on Sunday, September 27. Earlier Wednesday, 10,000 tickets for the Festival of Families were made available online. Officials say reservations for all tickets were placed within two minutes. The Festival of Families will be held on Saturday, September 26. The Papal Mass in Philadelphia will be broadcast live at one New Jersey shore town.
The mass will be shown live on a large screen at Cape May Convention Hall on Sunday, September 27. Admission will be free for this event . There will be a limit of four tickets maximum per person. Tickets are available at the following locations: All churches located in the City of Cape May, at the City Clerk’s Office on the second floor of City Hall, and at the Information /Reception Desk at Cape May Convention Hall. Doors to Convention Hall will open for seating at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m., officials say those without a ticket will be admitted to Convention Hall if any seats are still available. Anyone with a ticket arriving at the Hall after 3:30 p.m. will be admitted only on the basis of remaining available seating. There will be no standing room only admissions for the Mass. Convention Hall’s capacity is about 800. There will be no food or beverage sold, dispensed, or allowed in Convention Hall for the event. The dress code is casual attire. No beach attire will be permitted. There will be other events happening in Cape May during the papal weekend, including a showing of the movie Sister Act at 7 p.m. at Cape May Convention Hall on Friday, Sept. 25. The Philadelphia German Brass Band will perform two free concerts at 6:30 p.m. at Washington Street Mall and at 7 p.m. at Rotary Park Bandstand on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Visitors to Philadelphia for the visit of Pope Francis can camp in Fairmount Park. The campground will be called “Francis Fields.” The cost is $199 dollars per camper with additional fees for car and RV parking. According to a news release, campground amenities include restrooms, showers, food and beverage vendors, grills, charging stations, and a general store. The news release says the Fields will be monitored by medical and security personnel, along with a multilingual information team. Next-to-car camping, tent-only camping, and a limited number of RV spots, with full power hook up and pumping services, will be available. The campground will open on September 24th and close on September 28th. There is a limited quantity of tickets that can be purchased through www.francisfields2015.org andwww.worldmeeting2015.org.
