Firearms Instructor Sentenced in Shooting; Jogger Killed in Accident ID'd; Hit-And-Run Suspect ID'd

A former state police firearms instructor was sentenced today for an accidental shooting that killed a state trooper during a training session last fall. 43-year-old Corporal Richard Schroeter was sentenced to 3-18 months followed by 4 years probation. The first two weeks will be spent in county prison, followed by house arrest. On September 30th, 2014 Schroeter was conducting training at the Montgomery County Tactical Response Training Center when he accidentally shot and killed 26-year-old Trooper David Kedra. He was charged with reckless endangerment. Today in court, Schroeter turned and told the Kedra family that he hopes they can someday forgive him, but he understands if they cannot, because he'll never be able to forgive himself.

New Jersey State Police have identified a female jogger and a passenger who were killed in a truck accident in Burlington County on Thursday afternoon. It happened around 2 pm along southbound Route 206 in Southampton Township, NJ. 29-year-old Allison McGinnis of Southampton was jogging southbound when a pickup truck driven by Patrick Miller of New Hanover headed northbound veered over and hit her. The truck then hit trees and overturned. The truck's passenger, 31-year-old David Eldridge of Wrightstown, was also killed. Miller was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital with a serious injury. McGinnis taught English at Helen Fort / Newcomb Middle School in Pemberton Township. No charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate the accident.

Philadelphia Police have identified a suspect wanted in a hit-and-run accident from April that killed a 2-year-old boy as he crossed the street with his mother. There is a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of 22- year-old Miguel Colon. Police say that Colon was driving a white 2006 Infiniti when he struck 19-year-old Josephine Rivera and her 2-year-old son, David Alicea back on April 13th in Kensington. Rivera was critically injured but recovered. She stayed by her son's side at St. Christopher until he died a few days later. Anyone with information should call the Accident Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.
