Police are investigating a shooting in Point Breeze, when two dozen shots fired overnight in the 1800 block of South 30th Street sent residents running for cover. Several 911 calls led police to a home on South 30th Street where they found two men struck with bullets. A 20-year-old was struck in his foot and lower back, and the second victim, 22, had gunshot wounds in both of his legs. A third man was shot in the hip around 19th and Tasker Streets. Police are treating this case as a triple shooting.

SEPTA will be holding a lottery starting Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. for limited quantities of Special 3-day SEPTA Transit passes for the Norristown High Speed Line and the Trolley Routes 101 and 102 for the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia. The lottery will last until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. Those interested in the passes will have to go tohttp://www.septa.org and will click the “Enter Lottery,” link.
These passes will be good for travel from Saturday, September 26 until Monday, September 28. SEPTA says those entering the lottery will choose up to three preferred stations from the following list:
Route 101 Trolley
-Springfield Mall
-Leamy Avenue
Route 102 Trolley
-North Street
-Clifton-Aldan
Norristown High Speed Line
-Gulph Mill Station
-Villanova Station
Customers can request up to 10 passes each day. Those who are selected through the lottery will be notified on Friday, August 14 if they win.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf used a stop in Norristown, Montgomery County Tuesday to slam Republicans in the state legislature for creating what he calls a budget crisis for the state and failing to work with him to resolve it. Governor Wolf appeared with Montgomery County Commissioner Chairman Josh Shapiro to talk about the budget impasse with lawmakers. He criticized them for adopting what he labeled a “sham” spending plan balanced through the use of “smoke and mirrors.” Both sides are expected to meet again behind closed doors on Wednesday.
